Whens the "right" time to introduce the big girl/boy bed?

My daughter is 3 months, and it embraces a nap on our bed or on the futon in his crib.
She stood up by herself and knows down feet first.
Ive watched a few beds children, those with rails.

I have a 2 year old daughter and am 29 weeks expressive with a little boy. My daughter has been in the crib up until now, which was one of those cribs that you could transition to a toddler bed. Well now evidently we'll need the crib for the new baby, so my hubby and I went out
